What is the difference between temporary initial selection and initial selection?

These two terms mean the same thing - a nice definition is: Temporary initial selection is the difference in mortality due to differences in the duration since policy inception. Depending on the kind of selection, it could be that the effect of selection wears off after a certain period of time, which is called the select period.
