I was looking at a past test and it gave real estate investment trust as something different to a listed property company. To my understanding, these were the same thing. What is the difference between them?

Hmm, if you could paste the question I could answer better.... my view is that a REIT is a type of property company that follows certain regulatory requirements.

However a simple way to get around this is that REITs are not in the syllabus so the test question may be out of date :)
